I was invited to join the judging panel at the second edition of the Fighting Spirit Film Festival in London and also presented an award.
The 2017 lineup included the UK premiere of Tak Sakaguchi’s Re:Born, Ip Man: The Final Fight, The Karate Kid, The 36th Chamber of Shaolin and a selection of action and martial arts themed short films.
I presented the award for ‘Best Action Choreography’ to Express Delivery, while further awards went to Blindsided for ‘Best Short’ and Kowloon Killers for the ‘Audience Choice Award’. The quality and standard of everyone’s work was very strong, from the narrative films, to documentaries and animations, and it was great to be involved and see all this work showcased on the big screen. Looking forward to the next event in 2018.
About the festival:
Through martial arts cinema we aim to entertain and inspire people, promote martial arts culture, and support those who have chosen it as a career. We hope that by making this an annual event that it will help create a stronger market for martial arts and action films, support and grow the legacy of films in the genre gone before and continue to entertain, inspire, amaze and enlighten audiences.
