Simon West in Life of Action II

To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of 90's action classic Con Air, I took the opportunity to proudly announce British director Simon West in my next book, Life of Action Vol. II.

He reflects and shares great stories on this epic feature debut, and his vast career over the years spanning The Expendables 2, The Mechanic, Wild Card, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and developing and producing Black Hawk Down.

He says: "I didn’t really know anything about action. I grew up watching the films of Stanley Kubrick, Francis Ford Coppola, David Lean and François Truffaut and had been directing comedy commercials. I had to learn how to shoot action really fast. I’d never really seen a gun close up or shot a fight scene, so I had to learn the techniques. I had no idea Con Air would still be enjoyed all these years later. I threw everything I had into it."

Produced by Hollywood legend Jerry Bruckheimer and boasting an all-star ensemble cast featuring Nicolas Cage, John Cusack, John Malkovich, Danny Trejo, Ving Rhames, Steve Buscemi and more, Con Air is one of the best loved popcorn action films of the 90's.
