I was very happy to join the easternKicks regular podcast hosts, Andy and James, to chat about some new, wild and decidedly cool new Japanese films. We break down Tokyo Gore Police director Yoshihiro Nishimura's similarly-titled (but less gory and more comedic) Tokyo Dragon Chef, as well as looking back on the career of this very interesting filmmaker and artist, sometimes referred to as Japan’s ‘Tom Savini’. We also discuss the latest from frequent Nishimura collaborator Tak Sakaguchi, Crazy Samurai: 400 x 1, aka Crazy Samurai Musashi, featuring a 77-minute one-take fight scene which has been generating a lot of buzz.
