Fighting Spirit Film Festival 2022

The 2022 edition of the Fighting Spirit Film Festival takes place this year between 10-11 September at the wonderful Stratford East Picturehouse and is always a hot ticket event for martial arts movie fans. This year, there will be special screenings of Bruce Lee's Way of the Dragon (marking the 50th anniversary of his sole directed feature), King Hu classic The Valiant Ones, John Liu's New York Ninja (only recently completed and restored, a fascinating origin story in itself), feature documentary Surviving Bokator, plus their annual short film competition, martial arts demonstrations and more to be announced.

I’ve been a judge for the awards since their first event in 2016 and I always enjoy the diverse selection which is shortlisted, and the variety of filmmaking talent from all over the world. This year is no exception and there are some very impressive entries up for awards.

Through martial arts cinema we aim to entertain and inspire people, promote martial arts culture, and support those who have chosen it as a career. We hope that by making this an annual event that it will help create a stronger market for martial arts and action films, support and grow the legacy of films in the genre gone before and continue to entertain, inspire, amaze and enlighten audiences.
