Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist Announced
Comic Con is one of the world's prime hotspots for announcing exciting news and major breakthroughs in the world of comics, video games and films. With major stars and personalities in attendance, the event is a fan's dream come true and says a huge amount for the passion and enthusiasm displayed by audiences - which stands stronger than ever.
In addition to major film appearances and panels (including as The Expendables 2 and others), emerging from the indie world it was great to recently hear the Street Fighter: Legacy team officially announcing signing the deal with Capcom granting them the rights to proceed with a forthcoming web series. The new series, titled Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist, realises the vision alluded to more than two years ago when creators Joey Ansah (Snow White and The Huntsman, The Bourne Ultimatum) and Christian Howard (Bound, Spooks) first launched their short online and took the Street Fighter fan community by storm. They didn't give too much away in their announcement but the series is said to take the characters back to their roots in Japan and tell the story before the Street Fighter legend. The response has already been great and fans clearly cannot wait for more. With the growing popularity of webseries (eg Mortal Kombat: Legacy) and an obvious demand for game-film adaptations to be done the right way, this is undoubedly a time for the all-new Street Fighter team to come into their own. It also says a lot about perseverance and relentless, hard work. Two years after their first Street Fighter short, and a lot of work in-between, a full series is finally on the cards.
