Avengement at the Taurus World Stunt Awards

Many were surprised when the Jesse V. Johnson and Scott Adkins collaboration Avengement was nominated for a “Best Fight” award at the prestigious Taurus World Stunt Awards. This was namely for the film’s epic, brutal finale in which the anti-hero character of Cain Burgess (Adkins) has entered the pub run by the villains and takes out a vast gang of heavies with brute force, all played by stunt performers under the watch of stunt coordinators Dan Styles (Accident Man, Vikings) and Luke LaFontaine (Savage Dog, The Debt Collector 1 & 2).

What is both impressive and insane in equal measure is that this low budget British action-thriller was nominated and went toe-to-toe with John Wick Chapter 3, Hobbs and Shaw, Captain Marvel and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, despite having a fraction of any of their budget, resources and shooting time. This is a testament to the very impressive work completed by the Avengement stunt team, filmmakers and, of course, Scott Adkins himself who carried the bulk of this responsibility on his shoulders, being the lead actor.

So, although they didn't get the win and they were underdogs going in, they earned significant respect and acknowledgement taking on Hollywood and should be proud for this reason alone.

Don't forget you can revisit the film on Blu-ray, DVD, Digital and Netflix.
